Focus on Education

For decades, Mesa Arts Center (MAC) as an organization has been a hub of many things creative and artistic for the City of Mesa and the greater Phoenix area. The magnificent theaters and the Mesa Contemporary Art Museum’s galleries house inspiring works of both performing and visual art. Even the architecture and landscape of the Center is inspiring. These are a few factors that attracted me to MAC and what enticed me to complete the marketing/public relations internship for my bachelor’s degree at Arizona State University. Once I began my journey here, I realized there was a whole other feature that enhanced the Mesa Art Center, and that was the numerous amount of art classes they provide. Education is an integral part of what completes MAC as an all-encompassing center of the arts.

There is vast variety in the classes that MAC provides. Painting, drawing, screen printing, glass, jewelry, metals, ceramics, acting, dance, drama, photography and sculpture are all provided by the Center. There are single workshops and classes that span a semester of up to sixteen weeks. Options for children provide a fun and creative place to learn new crafts and develop their social abilities and imaginative nature. Classes for adults range from beginner to advanced, and you can feed your curiosity about new artistic endeavors or hone and perfect your already developed skills. For nearly every niche in the art community, there is a class available that will meet your needs. From ballet fitness to blacksmithing, jewelry to black and white photography, there is truly something for everyone at Mesa Arts Center.

The instructors are dynamic, experienced, and professional. Their goal is to develop your creativity and impart onto you their knowledge and experience. The instructors come from various backgrounds from all over the country. Many have masters’ level education in their field and all are experienced artists themselves. Their passion for art and teaching is easily sensed by their students and it creates excitement and drive in their classes.  The hands-on learning environment makes the courses at MAC an interactive atmosphere for anyone who has an interest in art.

I have already seen how MAC enhances and involves the community in all areas of artistic exploration. Visual and performing art education is part of what makes the Center so unique.
