Pushing the Boundaries of Traditional Mediums: Five New Exhibitions in the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum

Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum is known for showcasing work by emerging and internationally recognized artists, from Arizona and beyond. In the newest exhibitions, artists push the boundaries of traditional mediums in unbelievable ways; they challenge the traditional purpose of books, explore issues like immigration and personal history, visually communicate layered narratives, transform single sheets of paper, and make jewelry out of computer circuit board parts.

Exhibitions include: Boundless: The Book Transformed in Contemporary Art; Fold, Paper Scissors; In/Visible; Turning the Page: Sculpture by Marilyn da Silva; and Metal and Beyond.

Celebrate the works of the feats of these amazing artists with us tonight (Friday, May 9), at a reception in the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. Explore the exhibitions, listen to live music, meet the artists, and enjoy some sweet treats, all for free.

Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum is located on the Mesa Arts Center campus at One East Main Street in downtown Mesa. Admission is free, and visiting hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with extended hours on Thursday until 8 p.m., and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum front desk: 480-644-6567.
