Stories from Behind the Camera: National Geographic Live in its Eighth Season

The National Geographic Live Series at Mesa Arts Center is back for its eighth season! The 2014-2015 season will commence in October and the four captivating shows are all a must see. Audience members are taken on a journey with National Geographic scientists, explorers, photographers, and filmmakers where they experience rarely seen behind the scenes perspectives.

The series begins with Steve Winter, On the Trail of Big Cats: Tigers, Cougars, and Snow Leopards, on October 15. Winter, an award-winning photographer captures the images of these majestic animals. Winter shares the exciting and often dangerous plights he encounters in order to share the exquisite beauty of the creatures.

The next speakers are David Doubilet and Jennifer Hayes with Coral, Fire & Ice on November 12. Doubilet, a legendary underwater photographer, and his wife, Hayes, who is a photojournalist and aquatic biologist, bring the audience a look into a beautiful and foreign underwater world. They travel around the world and explore divers and lively waters on National Geographic assignments.

Then, on February 4, Mike Libecki, a climber and explorer, and Cory Richards, a climber and photographer, bring us Untamed Antarctica. They take the audience to a remote landscape few have ever seen. Battling extreme cold and wind, Libecki and Richards brave a ten-day climb to the summit of Wohlthat Range, and they bring the audience with them through their gripping journey.
The last show of the season, Chasing Rivers on March 25, brings photographer and filmmaker Pete McBride. McBride has traveled around the world documenting the power and gravitas of large waterways, such as the Colorado and Ganges rivers.

Tickets for the four-part series are on sale now. Single tickets go on sale Sunday, June 1 to Mesa Arts Center members and Sunday, June 15 to the general public. Don’t miss out on these fascinating showcases!
