Hip Hop Dance + Rube Goldberg machines = Mad Skills at Summer Camp

Let’s combine engineering and dance to teach middle and high school-aged students to apply real world career and collaboration skills.

OK! GREAT idea! ...Wait. Just how exactly are we going to do that?
Mesa Arts Center has teamed up with The STEAM Machines™ program at Arizona State University to provide a challenging and creative summer camp environment for students ages 13-18. STEAM Machine + Arts Camp pairs Rube Goldberg-style chain reaction machines with hip hop dance to create a work of performance art over the course of a week. The engineering design process allows students to interconnect science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) concepts to transform simple ideas and materials into complex multi-disciplinary systems, like a hip hop dance.

What’s this all about, you say? You’re in luck! We have just the video for you. Check out the dancing that starts at about 1:10.
