Some things just mix well
together: French fries dipped in milkshakes, a piña colada by the beach, and
the contemporary-dance-meets-Latin-dance combo that is Ballet Hispanico. On
September 16 and 18, Mesa Arts Center welcomes the Arizona premier of a
stunning evening-length masterpiece entitled CARMEN.maquia. Ballet Hispanico is
one of four contemporary dance companies whose performances are being captured
for Lincoln Center at the Movies: Great American Dance cinema. And they’re in
great company. The three other companies featured in the series are San
Francisco Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and New York City Ballet.
Yup, you read that right; the
Ballet Hispanico film is going to be captured here at Mesa Arts Center! And
then, Ballet Hispanico’s film will be coming at you with more than 600 movie
screenings nationally on November 12! If you’re already tapping your feet in
excitement, you’ll feel pretty special to know that the lead dancer, the
beautiful and talented Kimberly Van Woesik, was born in Mesa Arizona. It’s
simply meant to be! Come be a part of this monumental event this Wednesday and
Friday. See you then!
